About Codenames

The original Codenames was released in 2015 and quickly gained many fans worldwide. Thanks to this popularity, the game won several awards, including the German Spiel des Jahres, which is regarded as the board game equivalent of the Oscars. To this day, Codenames is the only original Czech game to boast this prestigious award. Currently, besides the original version of Codenames, there are also Codenames: Pictures (where word cards are replaced with pictures), Codenames: Duet (a cooperative variant for 2 players), and various licensed versions of Codenames. Additionally, in 2019, an online version called Codenames Online was launched, which is freely available at www.codenames.game, the Online version has peaked at 10 million monthly players. In 2023, we also created multilingual versions of this board game, specifically the Ukrainian-Czech, Ukrainian-Italian, and Ukrainian-German Codenames. We distributed it for free to schools, children's groups, and Ukrainian refugees, as well as to families helping them in their difficult situation.
